Joel (the album) Panel Music Review.

Post by ParadiseGalaxy on Fri 27 Dec 2013, 14:55

First of all, please forgive me, and thank you guys for your patience. The forum was down due to some changes i had to make.
Here is Panel Music, DFW music reviewers for those who don't know, review of Joel's cover album Joel.

Where You Take Me-
This song expresses, an experience of the beginning of,  birth of love. The bubbly lyrics along with the composition and vocals of the song processed for an innocent feel and sound.
7/10

Out From Under-
Despite the unfinished vocal touch, the song gives an outmost atmosphere that no other song, in general has given.
7.5/10

Before The Goodbye-
Strong vocals, instrumental is on point and the lyrics are significant to the subject. No further comment.
9/10

I Run Away-
Perhaps one of the most honest song in the disc, if not the album, the vocals express sincere emotion while remaining strong and precise.
8/10

Everytime-
Strong song, much like "I Run Away" however the vocals seem to be quite altered to a point where it is sounds much like the original song.
8.5/10

Shadow-
The portrayal of this song is very dark, yet emotional. Vulnerability in the vocal production enhances the audio, as with the production as a whole.
8.5/10

Unusual You-
This song is very unusual, pun intended, the vocals and the instruments go fair with one another. However it would have been a tad bit better of the vocals were processed to a minimum.
7/10

When Your Eyes Say It-
Perhaps the most romantic song in the album. The speech to singing vocals being forth a cliche of words that remence with early  romance.
6.5/10

Someday-
This song is quite a grower, a few listens could become bearable to listen too. No further comments.
5/10

Where Are You Now-
A very simplistic, but powerful song, most likely about losing a love one. Interesting sound.
7.5/10

Bonus Tracks (rating only)

Let Go- 5.5
Little Me -4
Shattered Glass- 7.5
End Of The World- 7

Disc 2:

Overprotected-
Original song, classical, for a Joel cover. The backing vocals seem to overtake the chorus, as usual.
8/10

Dramatic-
The vocals are opposite to the previous track. Here the vocals overpower, at moments, the instrumentals. This songs sets off a darker theme for the album.
8.5/10

Trouble-
The vocals are what is impressing in this second disc. They are much different and fresh, as opposed to the first disc. This song is a descent  classical song for some occasions.
7.5/10

Feet On The Ground Again-
Despite the well effort production and result the song is very dated. However it fits the albums perspective and serves as a great track for passing occasions.
7/10

Alien-
Impressive vocals, for a track that, in the original evokes on autotune on the Pre-chorus. Vocals are layered, but coherent and bearable to the ears.
9/10

Till Its Gone-
Dated song, however the vocals are very powerful yet vulnerable. The song is a fun club banger rather than a serious, in your face, track.
8.5/10

Tik Tik Boom-
This song just had to be in the album, otherwise it wouldn't have been an honorary cove album by Joel. The song is classical, much like overprotected, for the second disc.
8/10

Don't Cry-
The album sooths and slows down. Instrumentals are actually alluring and raw. There is something that this track holds that makes it very power. Perhaps the direction Joel took it?
8.5/10

Hold On Tight-
Production of the song changes, keeping it somewhat fresh and exciting. It is very soulful, in terms of lyrics, and vocal enhancement.
8/10

Now That I Found You-
This track lacks creativity, there's many things going on at once. The chorus and Pre-chorus sound like two different songs. Unimpressed track, vocals are somewhat descent.
7/10

Brightest Morning Star-
A preppy high spirits song that will most likely be played on a long road trip. Vocals are overpowered by the instrumentals and backing vocals.
8.5/10

Passenger-
This song has powerful vocals and much like the previous song, takes an anthem of a summer like feel. A song for road trips or fun house held parties.
8/10

Bonus Tracks-
Rock star-7/10
Connected-6/10
DJ Turn It Up-7.5/10
Burning Up-7.5/10

Overall:
cover album has distinctive sounds that are unrelated-able  to its co-coperatives. Despite not having a creative theme, or set off mood, the album manages to captivate the listeners to an adventure, experiences, of life itself. There is love, break ups, break throughs, infidelity, honesty,  friendships, alienation, lonesome, redemption, sex, mischievous and faith. Overall the albums production could improve in case of sounding as if it was recorded in the day of release and complete originality. The songs could have improved to self instead of its original sound. KWE Music Ratings division, our ratings, give a resonance, accurate review. Overall rating for 2013 cover album 'Joel' is a solid:
7/10

 :jok: Not Bad  :smileyj:

Past Overall Ratings from Joel Rincon:

Woeful Infamy (2012) 8/10
Curious/Solemn (2010)  7.5/10
Carnival (2009) 9/10
Love Faith & Forgiveness (2008) 6.5/10
Autumn Goodbye (2007) 5/10
